Job Description:
Accountable for performing microbiological analysis and quality determination of product samples.
Ensure the cleanliness, orderliness, and the safety of micro lab and production areas by performing the following duties.
Responsibility and Duties:
Sort, organize, and prepare approximately 150 samples or more from all production lines.
Perform hand plating procedures on juice samples according to Country Pure Foods and customer related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Perform agar pour plating techniques.
Operate and maintain the pressurized steam autoclave.
Collect and test various auxiliary lines throughout the facility; water hoses, glycol, food contact air.
Perform facility environmental testing in accordance with Country Pure Foods Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Perform raw material testing in accordance with Country Pure Foods and customer related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Perform weekly bioburden testing on rinsed and unrinsed bottles from the plastic bottle fillers.
Perform allergen protein specific kit testing on collected equipment swabs and rinse water samples.
Work with QA Manager to perform annual validation of facility Allergen Program.
Maintain the scale verification and calibration program.
Maintain the thermometer verification and calibration program.
Maintain and calibrate microbiological incubators.
Make Department related consumables such as agars and acids.
Upload micro data to create sterility reports and determine sterility trends.
Work with management, plant sanitarian, and outside representatives to determine root causes and corrective actions for plant related micro problems.
Maintain and update micro lab SOP's and associated forms.
Perform facility monthly hard plastic and glass audit.
Follow Country Pure Foods and customer policies and procedures.
Possess safety awareness, the ability to work safely and report unsafe conditions to QA Manager.
Suggest improvements in safety, quality and efficiency.
Inform QA Lead/Tech or Manager of any out-of-specification situations or negative trends.
Proper use of all laboratory equipment resulting in accurate and repeatable test results, following written procedures and safe handling requirements.
Understanding of manufacturing equipment in all areas.
Performs miscellaneous tasks assigned by Quality Assurance Lead and Quality Assurance Manager.

Education and/or
Experience:
Associate degree and one to three years' experience in a Food or Beverage Manufacturing Quality Assurance role; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of; Inventory software; Spreadsheet software (Excel) and Word Processing software (Word) and Database software (Access).
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Juice HACCP Certification preferred.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25-50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however the employee may be required to enter production areas where the noise level is usually loud and hearing protection is required.
